Sta-Rite Max-E-Therm Will Not Light No Error Codes

*** Edit, As I was typing this it looks like James was saying the same thing***

Please don't take this the wrong way but very recently we dealt with heater problem and the owner said the same thing. After a LOT of $ he found there was a valve closed that he missed. In another, the supply line had a hole in it and had to be replaced... just hate to see people replacing things without checking in a rational way. In both cases there was unnecessary spending.

Its seems we have diagnosed to down the valve either way. If you are willing to climb into the valve is another layer. BTW I tinkered with my issue for almost 2 years. In that time I bench tested everything I could. and even used my neighbor's control board to rule that out (he had the same heater). I realized the only thing left was the gas Valve.

That's what I'm thinking.. If the valve doesn't work then I'll take the blower apart.

Fair enough guys and I do appreciate the help! The time to diagnose for me is a factor as well. And also the wife is *screaming* (not literally) for the spa heat! :) I'll report back what happens for posterity!
James that call is definitely yours. We're here to help not regulate. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and if there's anything we can help with please to ask. I have a very similar gas valve on my bench that had a fried solenoid from the lightning strike. I can open it up and provide any photos you may need. Also, I'm guessing @swamprat69 has had a few of these apart before.

Much appreciated. I'll followup next weekend with how it went!

Found this in another thread. Hope it helps

Well here it is and James was right. It was a gas pressure issue. It sits at 10" WC and when the valve open goes to 0. We had a ton of rain and we have gas lights that collect all that rain. When the gas lights are turned on water gets into the line and builds up. Getting it blown out hopefully this week!

That's a strange mechanism for water intrusion. Not saying it can't happen but I'd make sure you pressure test the line. Water inside a gas line can cause pitting from the inside. We've had one other recently that had to replace the line. Not a nice thing to find out about but better that way than a gas explosion. In his case I believe the line had corroded underground and actually held a little pressure.
