something for kids to stand on?

we just got a pool, 54" dp.

what do people put in them for smaller kids to stand on since they are too short.... they can swim but they also like to stand and play too

A lot of folks have wedding cake steps in their pools that allow the younger set to stand and sit on in the pool.

In the past I have made some small step/ table like things out of 1.5 " Pvc pipe... It is cheap and easy.. Drill a few holes in it make it take on water and sink to the bottom..

I like the PVC pipe frame with a HDPE top piece.

where would I get a HDPE piece? use a HDPE cutting board?

would you put anything on the edges of the pvc fittings so they do not wear on the liner?

A plastics company would have it. You could use PVC sheet but HDPE is neutrally bouyant.

I would sand any edges and bumps smooth before putting it in the pool.

I would be cautious of anything kids can get stuck under or tangled up in.

we got wedding cake steps and although I hated them the first week because they were seemingly made poorly I now love them and would not consider having the pool without them. We have a deck built around it so they are perfect match for my setup. Gives the kids a staging area they can rest and start from.
