Pool Cover Question

the reel in his post may be above the water, but solar covers sit directly on the water. if you stay on top of the maintenance you CAN, sort of, mostly, sweep or blow the leaves off when they are dry. but those covers only go to the inside edge of the pool (they depend on surface tension to stay in place, if too much excess hangs over the sides of the pool they are subject to going airborn) and therefore most of the stuff that lands on them generally makes its way to the sides and falls in. that is why I said earlier it is either a spring clean up mess or a constant maintenance chore. if there was a really good solution, it would be pinned to the top of this forum. LOL

I am not trying to be that jerk that just shuts down new ideas but there are some physics involved here and cost to benefit ratios that mostly don't work economically for a relatively small inexpensive pool situation.

so, again, if you come up with something that works, let others know (and file for a patent!)

You'd need a safety cover. You can anchor those tightly around your pool.

Or a traditional above ground pool cover that will collect rain water and be drainable without pumping pool water.

Another thought. For all the headache you've been through with this, why not take the pool down for the winter ? It's meant to be put away, and usually I wouldn't but if leaving it up was worse than taking it down......
do they make safety covers for above ground pools without a deck? soft sided pools?

I've seen them staked tight like a flat top tent before. It would probably need to be reinforced where it touched the frame and be like you said be cost prohibitive for a custom safety cover. You could also sink 4x4 posts for the anchors and keep it flat.

Maybe today is the day.
