looks good! you are heading for the homestretch. keep SLAMMING til she looks like this:
and CC is .5 ppm or less
and you have no more than 1 ppm loss of FC overnight. Test right at dark, then again the next morning before the sun hits the pool.

The day was spent testing and adding clorox! CC holding at 2 but we are eating up the clorox! Scrubbing and waiting .... waiting!

No lights in the pool, I need to get some. we can't see the bottom yet but can see deeper each day

FC maintained at 20 all night, CC is down to 1 .... the water is looking more clear. But I still can't see the bottom of the pool

Make sure you are backwashing the filter when it's pressure reaches 25% higher than clean pressure. Read Maintenance and Cleaning of Pool Filters for detailed instructions.

The pressure has not got above 8%,new sand on Sunday, is that normal?

The water does not look dirty, it looks cloudy .... No green or grim, no leaves in the basket when we vacuum.

I think that still sounds normal. Cloudy (not hazy) water can take a long time to clear with a sand filter after all the algae is dead.

Thanks, we have only just begun! Started the slam Sunday afternoon, the water does look much better. I hope to see the bottom of the pool soon!

New info, the previous owner of our home informed us there was a telescoping pole in the bottom of the pool. As we brush and vacuum we could feel it moving around. Today we fished it out, full of nasty green algae. I think we will progress faster without it in the water! DUH!

That's a heck of a thing to leave in a pool! Good thing they told you about it! I haven't read back through the whole thread, but have you removed the steps or are they still in the pool? They have little nooks and crannies where algae can hide. I like to pull mine and clean them with a bleach solution to get rid of any hidden algae.
