How much has your pressure gone up?
If it never rose during your SLAM process, and then went up a psi or two when you added DE, that is your new "clean" pressure. The rule of thumb for backwash is when it gets to 125% of clean pressure, but if it's close -- and you're getting good results -- I might hold off a day or two before backwashing.

Brush brush brush. Hopefully you'll get some more psi rise working things into filter then you can repeat when you get to 14.

Keep on brushing and running a cleaner if you have one. The more you can stir up the water and keep things moving, the more opportunity your filter has to catch it. It should get to the point where brushing doesn't change the appearance much at all. At least that's how mine went. It was disheartening every time I brushed because it looked worse but have to keep doing it.

Are the eyeballs on your jets pointed towards the bottom of the pool? Having them blasting the bottom will help keep things stirred up and will let your filter catch everything better.

I've only been testing the FC, CC since beginning the slam, I will test full results tomorrow and post them. My CC is down to .5 and I have kept the FC level high as directed. I hope I have it right, I see results daily.

I am of the mind that a back wash and addition of "fresh" DE could do no harm. Seeing how much progress you saw with the first addition of DE......................
BUT that is just me. I am very new to the PROPER TFP ways.

Me too! I'm going to do that tomorrow. After a full battery of test and some more reading and adjusting. We3 are almost there. When I brush tonight I don't get as much dust up.

You can usually loosen the outer ring when the pump is off and then aim it where you want.

OK, I was asked for full battery test results. But, with my chlorine so high (slamming) will the results be accurate? Won't the PH read high?
