In my NW Houston pool caring days growing up, I found the net on the end of the pole to come in handy with snakes. We had an empty lot behind us where I relocated many snakes and frogs from the skimmers.

Yep. My wife's plan would include a pair of loppers and a story that ends with two smaller and less wiggly snakes.
Maybe ask him to kick in a few bucks for chlorine? I mean he is kinda just hanging out and enjoying the pool.

Every job has a best tool. The best tool for grabbing snakes is snake tongs. I have only had to use mine twice, but once it was a rattlesnake and with them it's best not to mess around with makeshift tools.

Maybe able to use a broom and get him to climb on it and then put it in the grass. he probably followed the drain pipe and was " Check this big cement pond out I found"
Most likely, it's just one of hundreds of snakes at the other end of the drain line.

I have stumbled across a few snakes in the skimmer basket. Never fun for me. I typically put the cover back on and start another task. Then nicely ask my girlfriend to please empty the skimmer basket!
The snake is probably not poisonous.
Even if it is poisonous, it probably won’t bite you.
