Small Pool Build - Brisbane, Australia [emoji1037]

Quite the adrenaline rush isn’t it?! No time like the present. Usually that’s me at midnight with a fish tank emergency or a I need an outfit for book week parade tomorrow emergency! I could see hubbys cogs turning as the heat pump guy was saying not to worry as he could float the slab up and over if he did need the space. No way hubby would have that... so off he went after work [emoji23]

Ours was supposed to be 4-6 weeks from concrete to plaster and it was around 10 and would have been longer without a heap of texts, lol. They finished early December which was nice but a tad earlier would have been extra swimming. Hearing about your progress is great, thanks. I hope the weather turns and it's filling up soon. Good luck :)

6:30 a.m.???????????? OUCH!!! No more  for anyone by you!!!

I can't wait for pics of the work done!!

He was still here when I got home after work. Worked over 11 hours. I feel like he probably rushed a bit as yesterday he was saying it would be a two day job. He was only an hour into it when the demo saw stopped working. So he had to leave to replace that. Wasn’t even a whole day with the time missed for that. If thought things couldn’t get any messier, I was so wrong [emoji31]

Ten weeks is great. We were told 10-12 weeks by all the companies that quoted. The other companies could have started digging before Christmas, but this one was early Feb. Looking at a late April/early May handover depending on weather. Rain again tomorrow but I don’t think there’s anything scheduled. Then of course Easter and more rain. I guess it will be finished when it’s finished.

So, not overly happy with the plumbing. The plumber did say that he needs to come back as he’s not happy with the valves. I guess that’s because once the base is levelled again the very tip of the valve will be buried. I’m assuming that will be sorted but annoyed as it means they’ll need to be another connection to raise the section up. My other concern is that he hasn’t dug deep enough. Is there a standard acceptable depth for the pipes to be underground?

Hubby was home, but frustratingly didn’t question anything at all.

Our total build was around 16 weeks, with around 10 weeks from having the concrete done until plaster day :)

Thank you, I needed that.

Our build could quite well push out to 16 weeks too. Still have electrical, coping, paving, tiling and fencing. I’m happy as long as there’s something happening. I feel like in the past couple of weeks communication has slipped a little. Will call the site supervisor tomorrow and have a chat. We get on well so I’m sure I’ll feel better after talking to him. Good news is a Bunnings is opening up tomorrow about 1km up the road. We’re really excited as we previously had to drive over 20 mins. Going to pop in and buy a couple of volume metres for the hoses so I’ll know our exact pool volume after the fill.

Those pipes right by the sidewalk look to be too high. I don't think there is a code for how high they but they look high enough that the dirt AND grass will not be able to cover them :( Someone got tired of digging gurrrrrrrr

I agree and he apparently used some sort of machine, so not like he was digging by hand [emoji35] Will bring it up with the supervisor tomorrow. Just feel after being happy with everything up till now that this is sloppy, rushed work. My dad was a plumber, among other things, so... The plumber wasn’t a subbie, he’s their on staff plumber who has apparently being with the company for a long time. Maybe they’re too nice to sack him!!

He has gotten lazy..........."I have been here forever so I don't have to worry!" WRONG!!! Liz is on the job and wants you to worry and do it RIGHT!!! gurrrrrrrr Remember to smile even if you are on the phone as it will carry through on your voice but still gurrrrrrrrr!

Just called our supervisor and he will come by in an hour to inspect. He was great. I just said I was a little concerned about the depth of the pipes and would he be out at all to check the work. Because it’s a non trafficable area I think he will leave them as is but I do want him to have a look before they’re covered. This man is amazingly knowledgeable and professional. Nothing is too much trouble for him. I do trust his judgement but have photos and will take more just in case I ever need them.

The supervisor came over straight away yesterday after my phone call. He is happy with the depth for a non trafficable area. I had a feeling he’d say that, but wanted him to see it. It probably looks a little higher than it is in photos, but still not deep enough for my liking. I will trust his judgement though and cross my fingers there are no issues. He is obviously very busy, as this rain has played havoc with them for the past 5-6 weeks... pretty much when our dig started lol. Still, he sent all phone calls to message bank and we chatted about not only the plumbing but also, electrical, fencing, paving/tiling, sealing etc. I do appreciate him taking his time to come over in person. We have another week of rain predicted and we need a clear run for the timing/paving. Scheduled to start Tues or wed at this point but honestly, looking at the forecast we will likely be delayed again. Hoping we can get the electrical sorted next week at least. We are at the pointy end, but things can’t progress as they should with the weather we’re having. Hubby bought my a pressie yesterday, a box for my pool testing kit, speed stir etc.

Liz I hope you gave your PB a big thank you! That does my heart good to hear of someone who cares enough to show up AND really listen!

So glad to see your hubby is buying into this crazy pool care idea! LOL I can't wait to hear what he says after he sees how clear your pool is compared to all the other non-TFP pools!

Thanks Kim. I think hubby has had a change of heart. A couple of days ago he asked me which pool care forum I was on. I told him and he said he’d been reading some info about plumbing on here [emoji23] Next thing he’s buying me pool care gifts! Pouring down rain here today. We’re both outside working, while the boys cop a little healthy neglect this long weekend [emoji6]
