Small Pool Build - Brisbane, Australia [emoji1037]

Hey that's great news and your pool is looking fabulous! Glad everything has settled in for you so well :)

Thanks [emoji4] I really didn’t expect to pass the OCLT. Had my SLAM all planned out in my head [emoji23] Still keeping a very close eye on things until I have all my settings tweaked. Still pushing the ph down every day either manually or via the chlorinator. I don’t mind having to do this and know it’s to be expected. Just wish this auto acid dosing system was more efficient but I guess it’s new pebble. Maybe it will work better down the track when it is established.

Great...!

Clarity and colour are looking sweet!

I have my CYA up at just between 70 & 80.

I also had to reduce my run times to 4hrs total for the day with SWCG set to level 1.

Much colder down here in Adelaide Vs your warmer climate...

It is looking better when I look back on photos. It is hard to see when I am looking at it constantly.

My SWG is running 6 hours total and it’s set to 4 currently. I am bothered that our settings are so different. That was one of the reasons I did the OCLT. We have had no cloud or rain in what feels like forever minus a drizzle last Saturday. Temps up around 24 each day. I have noticed when I run my pump for longer to circulate but turn off the SWG (so between set run times) the ph stays stable and doesn’t push up so I plan on extending my run times and dialling back the SWG setting to find a good happy medium. I drew up a table today using pool maths for reference with each setting and how much FC per hour each setting produces. I will get there.

With your CCL test kit have you noticed whether your fill lines are accurate or not? Cl test line is meant to be 10ml. Mine is 11.5. I use the speed stir vile for some of my tests and I noticed the discrepancy. Other viles are off slightly too. I might check my new Cl test kit vile that I ordered for my SLAM.

Do y'all see it???????? Do you see the sparkle in the water?????? She is THERE! :sun: Her pool looks like a TFP!!!

Kim:kim:

She looks pretty good in the sun at the moment. Feeling much better about things than I was a week ago. Still have a lot to figure out but I will get there. If not then I am all prepped and ready for a SLAM anyway [emoji23] Without TFP I can guarantee my pool would be in sad and sorry state.

Weather would be playing a significant part I think... We have had mainly overcast days for some time with a bit of sun poking through every now and then. My daily loss on certain days was virtually zero FC back when I was running with elevated FC and SWCG switched off.

Today was full sun - however my temps have been a lot colder than yours as well.

I have not bothered to check this - however I could see that if the sticker was not applied correctly then it could be out.

Need to keep in mind the tolerance though - 1.5mL may not be such a big difference on the overall test result...???

You could ask Brett over at CCL to see what he says.

True on both counts.

Next time I order I might ask but I haven’t noticed any real difference in results because of it.

My acid container finally emptied today so I have filled it to the 2:1 ratio. Will see how it goes now at keeping the ph down.

FC at 7 which is what I’ve been aiming for. Now to keep it there. Had the cover off pretty much all day as I spent a lot of time brushing, cleaning Jeff etc and boys swam for hours later in the afternoon. I think I will have to bump SWG in the morning as it seems that their swimming eats up a decent amount of my FC as the days they don’t swim I have almost no FC loss. Obviously having the cover off will also eat into my FC. Think I need a strategy for when they swim such as bumping the SWG % up while they’re in the pool or dumping LC by hand either before or after they swim to compensate.

Small Pool Build - Brisbane, Australia ??

So far so good. Ph had climbed from 7.5 to 7.7 overnight. Instead of continuing to climb until I push it back down as it usually does it is now reading 7.6. This is the first time it has made an effort to push the ph down by itself. Hopefully it continues to do so. I think the longer pump run time probably also helps by giving it time to adequately dose. Now to fine tune the SWG and it’s happy days! Need to backwash but there is a kids party next door so will leave that for tomorrow.

Anyone have any tips on undoing the pump lid? The handover guy showed me how to shut off the valves and undo it and put it back on but I can’t manage to get it to turn. There’s not much in the way of debris in there. A few little bits of she that I assume were in the pipes.

Woohoo - sounds like you might be over the hill with regards to having your water stabilise. Hopefully everything starts to plateau which will then make it easy for your auto PH dosing to keep up etc.

If the pump lid is hard to unscrew - It is probably screwed on too tight.

You can use these to help unscrew all sorts of things without marring the surface - Just make sure you purchase one that is large enough to suit the lid:

I don’t want to speak too soon but things are definitely looking more stable. The other thing I did when setting up the new mix was I primed 3 times so 900 seconds. I was hoping to eliminate all the air in both lines. Apparently air doesn’t matter... just like the dilution ratio [emoji849] Anyway I wasn’t able to completely eliminate the air in the line going to the chlorinator but it did manage to rid the line coming away of air completely. I would say though that the biggest help has been the proper dilution of the acid. I had questioned this from the start but told the 3:1 was better and Astral preferred it. Doesn’t seem that it was actually better for adding enough acid... the whole purpose. Seriously a while lot of stress could have been easily avoided.

Silicone is booked for Thursday, which I think is to do with the drain they need to finish. Render will apparently happen before then. Slide will go in last.

For the first time ever I haven’t had to adjust a setting or tamper with anything I’m a whole 24 hours!! Feel like I should be doing something to the pool lol.

Oh and thanks heaps for the link. I need to pop to Bunnings anyway so will pick one up. I’m sure it will come it handy. Will measure to get the right size.

Sometimes with pump above water level, there's suction holding it down a bit. Partly unscrewing the pump drain is a handy way to release the suction. And yep, not putting it on too tight is even more helpful :)

Glad to hear your acid dosing is doing the job :)

When the pool company guy screwed it back on he made a point of telling me not to do it up too tightly lol. Might not be for him but is for my girlie hands. The pump is below water level. I’ll manage to get it off then make sure it’s not on too tightly.

I have a rubber mallet to tap, tap, tap to get my lid off. Do you have silicone lube for the o-rings yet? It looks like this: https://www.amazon.com/Lube-Tube-Single-4Oz-Each/dp/B004VTGL9A/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1528630591&sr=8-4&keywords=lube+tube It is sticky so have a paper towel or two to wipe your fingers/hands on. If your o-ring is lubed you will not have to close the lid quite as tight.

SO happy to hear you are getting the equipment dial in! You go girl!!!

Kim:kim:

I certainly do have a rubber mallet. Will try a gentle tap tap. Will add the silicone lube to my ever growing Bunnings list. Guessing it also stops the o rings from deteriorating so quickly.

Laid a bit of turf today to try and end some of this mud, especially around the patio. Would love to do the whole yard but I don’t have that in me right now plus the dogs may well have it all ripped up by tomorrow. I did hammer in 100 turf pegs to delay process.

I hope you got to sit on the lounge after and have a couple wines! Looks great :)

Not exactly! I need to function for the rest of the day lol. Have to pick the boys up from school and the outside lounges are grotty and really belong to the dogs. Have a new one that was meant to arrive today but of course Australia Post have postponed delivery. You know what just occurred to me though? I could have gone for a swim! I was so hot afterwards and it didn’t even cross my mind. I guess having a pool will take some sinking in [emoji23]

When I am mowing I will jump off the mower and jump in the pool when I get hot. Then right back on the mower to work on the yard some more. Nothing better!

I see one of the dogs watching you from his couch! LOL
