Small Pool Build - Brisbane, Australia [emoji1037]

What brand and model is your heat pump? I'm interested to hear how it's doing.

It’s an Australian Energy Systems heat pump made by Fairland. We went with an oversized model for our pool volume - the IPH45. The company we got it through were fabulous and Brisbane based, but these units are available in all other states I think. We had an Astral unit originally included in our contract but I quickly ditched it after doing a bit of research. The AES system is significantly more efficient and is full inverter technology although I think Astral may have a full inverter model now. It was actually very reasonably priced. We are happy so far. Initial heat was 48 hours from 18-30*. I don’t hear it run much now it’s up to temp. I did have it running on silent mode overnight so probably would have got there quicker had I left it in smart mode. The only thing I would have done differently was probably a quieter boost pump for it. It’s by far the loudest part of my equipment (now my main pump is running on low). I just took their standard. Great price on Daisy cover and roller too. All fully installed.

I am so jealous of your robot!!!!!

I have become expert pool boy over the last week but I enjoy it.

You neeeeedd a robot! Trust me I never expected to like it as much as I do. Just got home from work and decided to give him an extra run as there’s a couple of leaves on the bottom and I’m just sitting here watching him work silently [emoji23]

I will be turning to you though for lessons in Manuel vacuuming when the time comes that I actually need to!

So, still pushing the ph down as expected. It likes to climb to 7.9 then I push it back down by manually dosing through the chlorinator to 7.6. CSI seems good at this range and just slightly negative. Slowly working out the SWG %. I’m currently at FC - 5.5. Aiming for 6-7 with my CYA. It’s a bit tricky to figure out as I have the cover in all days some days then other days it is off for a while in the sun. I do like to have the cover off for at least a little time each day. It gives me a chance to do maintenance and lets it breathe a little. The most exciting part of this afternoons testing was CC - 0! The pool was almost all in the shade when I got home but there is a little section in the corner of the deep end getting the sun and the water is starting to look so much better I think. Also think Jeff needs cleaning everyday. He’s performing so much better the more I clean him and we have had some windy days so a getting a few leaves etc. All in all still happy with where I’m at and just going to continue to try and get my numbers to a good place.

Sweet looking water, Liz. You've got this pool care stuff well in hand!

Getting there. I’ve been taught well here just a matter of putting it all into practice. Still need to do an OCLT but think first I want to continue dialling in my settings and levels. If it turns out I do need to slam I want to know exactly how things should be adjusted once it’s over. Don’t want to be back to scrambling around trying to prevent levels getting too high/too low. I think I’m getting close.

Look at that!! Your water looks like a JEWEL! NICE! You are so on the right track now! Good job figuring everything out. Having the cover off lets the cc outgas! Good move! for 0 cc!!!

Kim:kim:

Thanks Kim. It was very nice to see as was the 0 CC. Will give it more time to air tomorrow when the sun is out... which will of course burn more FC but that’s easy to deal with.

Manual vaccuming is for suckers lol.... You know how slow your robot moves? Try to vacum that slowly or slower on your own. I get my snorkel gear on and float around targeting the gunk. I do this two to three times a week.

Good excuse to get in the pool at least! Cleaned lovingly as opposed to my pool where I outsource the cleaning to Jeff [emoji6]

Not much to report at the moment which is a good thing! Passed the OCLT last night. FC loss was 0 with CC 0 before and after. Now to tweak pump run times and SWG settings. I retested CYA yesterday and came up with 70-80 so will call it 80. Funnily enough this was the number I first got myself. At handover pool guys machine read 90 and I went with this since all his other numbers matched mine exactly and I didn’t have too much faith in my own testing at that point. So I would say it has been 80 all along rather than the 90 I believed it to be.

Pic of pool from yesterday. It is looking pretty good. Just want to raise my FC slowly a little. Currently sitting at 5.5. Would like it more around 6 or even 7. I have noticed a couple of small patches of plaster on the pebble which I obviously didn’t brush off properly. Now that I have noticed them I will focus my brushing on those little areas. I guess it explains the little bits of sand and mortar in Jeff’s bag. Knew it wasn’t filter sand as it is a shiny glass medium.

Great...!

Clarity and colour are looking sweet!

I have my CYA up at just between 70 & 80.

I also had to reduce my run times to 4hrs total for the day with SWCG set to level 1.

Much colder down here in Adelaide Vs your warmer climate...
