Small Crack in sand filter

A small crack has developed in the side of my sand filter. It just to the right of seam on the filter as you can see by the picture.

Any chance this can be repaired?

No. The sand filter housing is a pressure vessel. You do not repair pressure vessels.

This should be taken out of service and replaced.

See if the manufacturer will give you any help on a replacement.

Its 5 years old ... Hayward sand filter .... Think its still under warranty?

Ask them to send you a new tank under warranty regardless of the warranty period.

I read a thread recently about a leak like that and Hayward replaced it out of warranty.
There was a bad batch of vessels and they were willing to replace those that were affected.

Hayward is a good company that stands behind their products. In my opinion, the filter failed prematurely and it should probably be replaced. The tanks probably don't cost that much to make. They're just injection molded plastic. Shipping probably costs more than the part.

From Hayward .... Pretty impressed with this level of service. They didn't even ask for a picture.
