So, we are coming to the end of our build and I have some questions about the slide we hope to install (if it fits).

The first question is regarding placement. We have a small pool and small deck. I am wondering how much exit space is generally required? We want to make sure we position the slide correctly so that children aren’t thrown into a wall as they enter the water. The slide is the sr smith typhoon. No information on their website that I can find. I can call them, but have in the past about other things and didn’t really get my answer although they were friendly.

Second question I have is about balancing the water. From the little I know so far, the splashing etc will increase the ph a fair bit. We have an auto acid doser, but I will be testing myself as I’ve heard they can be iffy. Will this push my TA down if a ton of acid is being released? The other concern is that we didn’t hard plumb for the slide and will be attaching a hose. This will be introducing quite a bit of new water to the pool on a regular basis. Will this be hard to keep on top of? Will be testing my fill water shortly.

If anyone has any insight into these questions I would love to hear your answers.

Oh, and this may all be null and void if this monstrosity does not fit!

Here is what you need: Typhoon Pool Slide - Official S.R. Smith Products Now go out to your area and see if you have the "safety envelope" needed to have this slide.

Chemicals: yes adding new water will make keeping your levels in balance a little harder but it be overcome with testing and adding as needed. The main one to keep a close eye on will be the CYA as it has to be added so you will be adding non-CYA water when running your slide BUT it will be SO worth it!!!

Ph-slide and kids having fun-it will go up but you have the test kit and will have the muriatic acid so you are good there! Your new plaster will also push the pH up as it cures. This can take as short as 3 months and as long as a year so........listen to your water and see what needs to be done when it needs it.

Kim:kim: (Finger and toes crossed hoping the slide will fit!)

Rileydog - give your builder a a quick phone call, the steel schedule /blueprint will quickly determine compliance and/or safe spot for slide placement.

Thanks Kim, I had missed that one section on the website. It seems like we will be able to position it so we have the correct exit space. Will do some measuring today. Given the size of the deck it will be cutting it fine to see if it fits. We have measured over and over and over before the dig and it comes down to cms but will should fit. Yes, I guess I’ll just need to be on top of the water more than I would have to be otherwise. Balancing scares me enough without adding a slide into the equation [emoji31] Thank goodness for TFP!

Thanks. The builder ordered the slide in front of me back when rebar went in. Right before that I was chatting to him as to whether it would fit and fit safely. He got his tape measure out measured, said it would fit. We will see. If it is built and positioned and it turns out it won’t work safely, then it will go back.
