I got a recurring algae problem in my pool, pool math says i need to use 8 jugs of chlorine should i dump them in all at once or what? It doesn't specify that.
Can i just take it to Leslie's and get my water checked there i feel like their's is more accurate than test strips. You need to follow the SLAM Process. To do that, you need a proper test kit. I suggest the TF100 or the Taylor K2006C. A proper test kit is needed to get the accurate water chemistry results needed to follow the TFP protocols.
While you are waiting on your test kit, add 5 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine / plain bleach to your pool each evening with the pump running. This will replenish the FC lost each day to the sun and also inhibit any algae in the water from growing further.
Slam process says to add 6gals. of liquid chlorine do i add them all at once or at what quantities? You are welcome to get your tested at a pool store if you want. We will not provide guidance based on that data or off test strip data.
Get your own proper test kit.
So just got my cya checked and its at 100.Once again. Follow my direction in Post 4. We have no idea what your CYA level is, or any of your chemistry data. Get your own test kit.
I’m sorry, but you’re going to continue to get the same advice from everyone here.So just got my cya checked and its at 100.
So im gonna start the SLAM Process and it say's to put 9lbs of shock do i dump them all at once or by portions?Thank in advanceI’m sorry, but you’re going to continue to get the same advice from everyone here.
We have had too many instances of people giving us numbers, us giving advice, nothing getting better, and then finding out the test results are from pool stores. Pool stores are often staffed by undertrained and inexperienced employees running tests using equipment that isn’t used correctly and never calibrated.
If you want our advice, we need to get proper information to give it, and that starts with you getting your own proper test kit and letting us know what your numbers are.
If your CYA is truly 100+ (many pool store tests cap at 100 and won’t show anything higher) you likely will need to exchange a large portion of your water. How much will depend on your true CYA level. It could actually be much higher than 100. And if you exchange expecting to get to a good place and find out your CYA is still high, and have to exchange a whole bunch more, you’d be unhappy with our advice.
So, if you want to get a test kit, let us know. Until then there’s not much we can do for you.
So i went out and got this test kit is that one good?Welcome to the forum. I am not sure why you're ignoring advice you are getting while asking for more, but I'll go ahead and lay it out for you:
You cannot perform the SLAM Process using test strips or pool store testing. We will not provide you with further advice based on test strips or pool store testing. If you want further help you'll need to provide us with the data we've requested, asking further questions without providing that data will only get you the same response.
Surprisingly, yes. Very rare to find the correct one at Leslie's, but that's the one you want.So i went out and got this test kit is that one good?
