SLAMming Confused: Deal w CYA First? What is “SLAM Level”?

Not trying to contradict @HermanTX, just to provide an alternate viewpoint. I bought the meter and it sits unused. Requires calibration, and you need to swirl in pool a bit for the reading to settle. You certainly can get one, but not necessary. Once you get the pH colors down, it is quick and easy. You just had (having) a good experience with high pH. If you emblazon those colors in your head, you will know pH is too high. Likely you will never see low pH. YMMV.

I have calibrated it and it quite easy. The kit contains enough solution for several calibrations. I am going on 18 months and have 1 more calibration I can do with it then can purchase more solution on Amazon. I keep it in KCL during storage as instructed.
I have a small plastic container. I fill that will my pool sample with an 1 inch or so of water and swirl the meter in it and then let it settle out, standing upright in the sample. It works great and also valid when FC is above 10ppm. If you are having trouble with the color comparator, then try a pH meter.

Are you the guy who left the five star review on Amazon & uses the device for his pool? I thought that was a very informative review.

Were you able to enjoy the pool today? Enjoyed thinking about Grace, and your bees today. Best wishes. Peace.
Yes! My wife and I, and our Airbnb guest, did. Grace is at BSA summer camp for the week. (The photo in the honey labels is probably 8 years old, which seems unbelievable to me!)

Thank you so much for asking. :)

G’day, @PoolStored. Hope your week is going well.

Pool looks and feels great. I’m still not quite able to get the FC up to SLAM level. Close, but no cigar.

Should I keep going w the slam process, or consider the algae defeated and return to the normal FC range?

Thanks so much.

Greetings, all. Hope the summers going well for you. My family and I just returned from an amazing July 4th week in beautiful Richmond, VA. Lived there for 20 years before relocating to the corn belt in 2011. Love that town.

Pool is doing OK my absence. I had a neighbor come by and add some acid periodically check the water level empty the skimmer, etc. but doing a deep dive just now shows things are a bit out of whack. Nothing serious. At least from my point of you. But…

Can y’all give me any hints based on my current numbers for the TA versus PH battle? Should I go ahead and add that 6 pounds of baking soda? Or do that in increments?

Based on what @PoolStored posted here previously, I imagine I take that down and small increments also.

Thanks very much happy middle of summer.(At least in central Illinois)

Thanks.

Just looked a more intense magenta than the top of the scale… which I think is 8.2?

And would you go ahead and hit the stabilizer as directed by pool math?
