Slam when filling with tap water?

Is it necessary to slam a small pool when filling with tap water (residential)?
Or can you just raise it to 4ppm or whatever?

SLAM is a process to deal with suspected algae in the pool water. If you are doing an initial fill with tap water you have good water. Add FC, check PH, add some CYA, and go swimming and enjoy.

Are you using anything for CYA? Those pucks can make your CYA raise too high over time. If you hadn't used anything else, then you can cut the pucks up and continue using until you get your CYA where you want, then stop and use bleach or LC.

You can cut them, just be careful as the dust will bleach any surface or clothing it touches. Please edit your signature so we can see the details about your pool in each post. We need pool size, type, and surface. Pump brand and size, filter brand type, and size, and any water features you may have.

If I remember correctly you have a very small pool and you where going to try and add a pump and filter. Where you able to set it up?
