Skimmer Spacer

Hey,
Does anyone know what the Hayward Spacer Kit is used for? There are no descriptions online anywhere, and I can't figure out if I need to use it or not. The Hayward part number is SP1085CALA and it is supposed to be for the Hayward Auto skim installation. Even the Hayward website does not mention what it is for. I have attached a picture too.

Why do you think you need to use it?

@ajw22 I am retro-fitting a hayward auto skim into a metal wall pool and the lip of the skimmer sticks out too far. I can't find out what type of screws/nuts/washers to use with it either.
