Need suggestions please. We have an above ground 16 x 32 pool with a Simple Salt System, which I understand from a few threads that I read, most do not like but we have one. The problem is we opened the pool June 6 and can not get the water to clear up. We have had the water tested 5x since June 6 and all comes back good. I just ordered an at home test kit that I saw recommended but it is on back order. The water looks like skim milk. We had a new copper ionizer installed when it was opened this year. Any recommendations to clear this up? The pool store doesn’t seem to know.

Cancel the order and order a kit from TFtestkits.net ...you will get it in a couple days.

Why is it cloudy? You let your FC get too low for you CYA. Link-->FC/CYA Levels

How do you fix it? Get a test kit and follow the SLAM process. Link-->SLAM Process

What will it look like when I'm done? Link-->How Clear is TFP Clear?

Welcome to TFP!

We have a very efficient way to clear pools known as the SLAM Process, however because of the amount of copper in your water it is risky to perform because it could cause staining. We'd also really recommend against continued use of ionizers as copper is not a sanitizer and does nothing but kill algae (and given the cloudiness of your water, you can see just how so-so it is at that) and switch to a chlorine-exclusive system such as the TFPC system we use here. It creates a very comfortable swimming experience while maintaining clear and sanitary water.

If you're open to exploring TFPC and how we operate then you'll probably want to exchange a large amount of water to greatly reduce the amount of copper in the water, and of course turn off and/or disconnect all ionizers. That would save you a lot of trouble going forward. It's your pool of course, but we can offer you a lot of help in operating TFPC. There's not a lot we can do when it comes to ionizers.
