Hi everyone,

I recently hired a pool service back in November because I went on a two-week vacation over Thanksgiving and didn’t want anything to go wrong while I was gone. I also really dislike dealing with the pool during SoCal’s windy season—it’s such a hassle to keep it clean.

Here’s the issue I’m dealing with now: the winds have been absolutely crazy lately. My pool guy just came a yesterday, and since then, a ton of debris has blown into the pool. Normally, I’d be out there a couple of times a day during windy days to keep up with it. But now that I have a pool service, I’m not sure if I should just leave it until he comes back next week or if I should step in and clean it myself.

I don’t want to overstep or mess up his system, but at the same time, the pool is looking pretty bad. What do you all do in situations like this? Is it normal to let the pool guy handle everything, or should I still be pitching in between visits?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

It is up to you.

Debris sitting on pool surfaces can create stains.

I clean my pool anytime I see stuff in it.

Windy season is the worst for pools. I’ve got a Beatbot cleaner and still use a pool service. Robotic pool cleaner’s perfect for keeping the pool clean between visits, especially with all the tree debris. Might be worth checking out.
