Hi all,
Recently bought a house and the pool coping is composed of overhanging bricks with extremely sharp edges. Have a 2 and 4 year old and enough to worry about regarding pool safety. Budget does not fit a new coping and don’t think filing/sanding them down will be very effective. An idea I had was to mount furniture edge guard foam using scotch industrial mounting tape along the top edge and then sealing it off with 2” anti-slip/grip tape. Has anyone thought of something like this? I’ve linked the 3 products I plan on testing on a brick.

Tape: Scotch Outdoor Mounting Tape, 1-in x 450-in, Gray, 1-Roll (4011-LONG) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BL5IN...abc_HZ43W7JCS5SABN58AHBG?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Edge guard: Baby Proofing Edge Corner Protector, Thick Table Bumper Guard, Soft Rubber Foam Guard, 3M Pre-Taped Corners, 20.5 ft (18.1ft Edge + 8 Corners) Baby Proof Corner Guard Heavy-Duty (18.1ft, Brown) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08SQJYHR...abc_DXRPV44JMGTJBH0JWSN3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Grip tape: Houseables Anti Slip Tape, Grip Tapes, Black, 80 Grit, 60'x2", Treads Non Skid, Safety, High Friction, Strong Abrasive, Boats, Stairs, Ramps, Ladders, Indoor/Outdoor, Adhesive, Traction, Weatherproof https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C68H8V...abc_XM40K89HB1G21EP9MYR0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

can you post a picture? I think it will be easier and faster to hit an edge with a sander and just take of the sharp edge..

Try using something like this to make the edge safer :)

you can use a grinder and make fast work of it.. the problem being it can get away from you and take too much off... You could make some kind of jig to do it the same the whole way around the pool :)

Thanks all for the replies;
My main issue with grinding is the debris it will create, but maybe I can devise a way to catch the dust so I don’t end up with a pool full of brick dust

a shop vac taped near the exit will catch most of the dust but really within 24 hours the pool will be clear and good to go :)

Quickstrip Sander ordered. In another note, I happen to be in the market for a Shop Vacuum, anyone have a good experience with portable/battery operated models?
