Shaft seal numbers

Looking at replacement parts, it looks like shaft seal AS-1000 and PS-1000 are interchangeable. Is this the case? Any ideas why they would have different but very similar numbers?

I would recommend the ps-1905 if the above is the pump you have. It is more expensive, but higher quality and will last longer.

Different brands use different numbers. Same seal. Viton is better. Silcon Carbide is best (SCS).
