Serious help needed

If you see small amounts in crevices that the vacuum doesn't pick up those areas would normally be brushed. I think we may hold off on brushing until tomorrow. Brushing will make the pool temporarily cloudier.

Is there virtue in waiting a bit more to see if there are more areas ? Today's scope compared with yesterday shows a great deal more. My hunch is to wait longer to see what more clarity brings. For example, yesterday, I would have totally missed the wall/bottom concentrations and would have likely disturbed same w/out any gain in expelling the matter. Please weigh in with your ideas. Thank you

I was hoping that Swampwoman would have checked in by now but I know she had a busy week. But I agree with zea3, a slow careful vac would be good at this point. It will probably cloud things up though, then have to let it settle again. I know swampwoman may have been looking for clues as to what is really going on, but getting the stuff out of the pool should decrease SLAM time.

Yes, I was hoping to hear from Swampwoman for direction etc. However, we now know that, at least the shallow end, has plenty of contaminants to foul things up. Certainly, being able to see down helps a great deal. Forgive the pun, but I believe "there is more than meets the eye".

I think the shallow end speaks for itself. But what about the deep end?

I'm going to wait a bit to see if Swampwoman appears. Thoughts?

I don't think it would hurt to wait another day, but the more organic matter you remove from the pool the quicker the slam will go. If you do vacuum and the pool clouds up don't be discouraged. It does not mean you are losing ground.

It would seem to me that actually getting in the water with a vacuum hose with out the vacuum head would work the best. Assuming greater water clarity than I have now, I could (calmly) place the hose directly on the contaminant, and out it goes to waste. Certainly, I think that would work best on the crevice areas where a vacuum head may not work. So how safe or hazardous is it to hop in the water? Alternatively, I could hang over the sides of the pool, and likely reach the hose down to the crevice areas?

What say you?

I do not think it is hazardous if it is right around Slam level, I am sure many pools that I have been in have had way more Hypochlorous acid (the oxidizing agent of chlorine) in it than your pool at the present, and the germs are continually being killed. But I think if you get in it will stir up the water much more. So I would first try from the side.

would a shop vac rigid extension attach to the end of your vacuum hose?

I would think getting in pool would disturb the sediment a lot more than vacuum. What we do not know is how thick the spots are. Maybe slowly vacuum near the edges of blob or try to reach just the hose down to the blob in the shallow end with you on the pool deck. Personally, I would still use vacuum and slowly lower toward the blob. You should have a lot better control handling it with pole than just the hose. Straight down, barely touch and slowly back up. Ideally it would give you a clean spot at touch down.

Swampy is VERY busy this weekend.Lets not wait on her.

I would put the vacuum head on the hose and get in the water and work on those darker areas. The main reason I say to use the vacuum head is fear of the hose sucking to the liner if you do not have good control of it. That could cause problems with the liner. Now if you KNOW you can control the hose enough then go for it. I do like the idea of the shop vac nozzle attached somehow. Get the darker spots gone the let it settle again.

All of that stuff explains why your SLAM has gone so long :( Your FC is fighting the algae and stuff decomposing so having to work extra hard. Once you get most if not all of it up then you will see a turn to blue then clear.
