Sequestrant Best Brand in Australia

Got to get the attention of some of your mates - @mgtfp @aussieta @AUSpool

I suggest you edit the subject line of your post to "Sequestrant Brand Best in Australia"

First thing to ask is what do you want it for? Do you have an issue with metals. Are you on a well or using bore water. I’ve never had to use any. I don’t like adding anything I don’t need. And when I do I will find out what is in the product by looking up the sds. Some of our suppliers try to discise what’s in the product and try to sell it to use with a generic use like metal out or calcium reducer.

Have had iron problems in the past and done an AA treatment before. Currently trying to SLAM and can see light stains reappearing and from this site it is suggested a sequestrant could lift those returning stains.

I just haven’t had time. That one is a “water solution of sodium hydroxide” not HEDP. But still used after stain removal.

The sequestrant isn’t that good at removing the stain, and just holds metals in solution to prevent them from reoccurring. The AA treatment is what lifts the stain.

The sds for the Metal Solutions says its 5-15% sodium hydroxide with the remainder to 100% a secret. And pH >13. But the product info says it will lower the pH and alkalinity which only an acid can do. HEDP, phosphonic acid, and phosphonic acid are all acids.

Metals will not come from our tap water. It must be added. Algacides will add copper, ionizers will add copper and silver. Magnesium salt can contain iron and are not as pure as regular salt. If it was me I would identify what metal it is, where it’s coming from and stop adding it. Then do a couple of drain and refills after an AA treatment. If the AA worked last time that is.
