I'm starting to get my hot tub ready to fill in September. On my list of things to do before filling is to track down where a leak was coming from up near the wet end of the jet pump #1 and remedy the problem. I've removed the pump and there's good evidence that the problem is what I suspected and that is a leaky shaft seal. There's lots of scale around where the motor shaft goes into the back of the wet end.
I'm trying to remove the wet end off the motor but it really doesn't want to come off. I cannot get the impeller to unscrew off the motor shaft. I have a feeling I'll have to destroy the wet end to get it off just like last time when I replaced the wet end on the other jet pump.
Sometimes they get fused onto the motor shaft and you're left with no choice but to trash the wet end to get it off the motor.
Does anyone have any tips or tricks they could share that might help me get the impeller to unscrew off the motor shaft? Failing that, does anyone have any tips on how best to destroy the wet end to get it off the motor?
TIA
