Seeing bubbles in pool when filter is running

Answer to your "what is this?"

Part #11 on the schematic.

Also would help us if you could add your pool equipment info to your signature. I'm guessing
what your filter is…but knowing is better. Thanks!

@1poolman1 finally getting back to this over the holidays. I just want to confirm the steps i tried, before i take apart the pump to replace the seals.

1. I bought a new o ring for the pool pump lid, lubed and replaced it, and then secured the lid on again(had to use a rubber mallet lightly to get it fully snug)
2. I bought a spray to detect air leaks around the inlet and outlet unions of the pump, and also tried a running stream of water to see if it made a difference in pressure. It did not.
3. I opened my cartridge chamber and resealed it just to be sure i wasnt losing pressure there.

Current status is the pump primes fine, and gets water filling up and can somewhat run with bubbles at 2500 rpm, if i reduce to 1500, the water starts lowering, so i turn it off. The max pressure i see in the chamber is around 10psi. In the past ive seen the gauge constantly at 20. So i know im losing pressure.

Next try: i was going to replace the o rings like you mentioned, but since my pump is secured to the ground i just wanted to confirm if thats the right move, and do i just need to replace the rings at the inlet and outlet first or should i replace all the rings in the pump(i bought the kit, so it came with a bunch of seal replacement parts). I also attached more pics of the area.

Another update @1poolman1 , i might have found a potential issue. So the pump primes fine, i thought that there might be a clog in the skimmer pipes to the pump. When i took out the skimmer basket, i noticed the skimmer float valve kind of floating, so i took it out and noticed the flap on it is broken. Im also wondering if the pipes maybe clogged and its worth hydrojetting? Could this be a cause of the loss of pressure and air bubbles?

Your pump had/has a severe shaft seal leak, based on the condition of the motor. As counter-intuitive as it may seem, a bad shaft seal can also be the cause of a suction leak, sometimes preventing a pump from priming.
Missing flap usually won't fit in the plumbing in a skimmer.
You can always try using a Drain King. Don't use a power jet as the plumbing may not be able to handle the pressure. Available at Home Depot or Amazon.

Thanks @1poolman1 , so i guess it does make sense then to go ahead and open up the pump seals and replace them with the new kit i got. I did by the drain king bladder, but regardless it sounds like the suction leak is on the pump side.
