Sand recommendations

My sand filter is finally getting delivered today so I need to buy the sand. My local choices are HTH brand from Ace Hardware or Quikcrete brand from Home Depot.

Any suggestions which one I should get???

Do NOT, and I mean NOT!!! get the Quikcrete brand!!!!! Another member just used it and found it to be even smaller grains than play sand.It went straight through the filter and back into the pool They replaced it with the HTH brand and no more sand in in the pool!

You HAVE to use #20 pool sand in a sand filter if you're using sand. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. No saying, "oh, but this sand is cheaper than #20 sand!" Your sand filter won't work right if you use anything but # 20 pool sand -- it'll go through the lateral and end up in your pool, where it's a pain in the rump to get out.

It'll be marked on the bag. If the HTH sand is #20, then get that. Do NOT get the Quikrete sand!

Thanks! The HTH description says it us #20 crystalline silica quartz. That's the right stuff, yes?

I just read an old post from another thread and looks like quikcrete is a major NO NO!
