Sahara dust storms. Got most of us across Florida and Texas, other Southern states at times. Mostly subsided, worse a couple months ago. Health notices, talked of closing Disney, etc. My cartridge filter was a dark brown rusty color & some sand in the bottom of pool and spa. The particles look a lot like the aggregate in the plaster.
Periodic low CSI can contribute to the cement dissolving and making the aggregate fall out.

Yes it looks to me to be Blue Pepper. We are fairly new to pools, we just bought the house two years ago and we are first time pool owners. The pool was neglected before us, we are learning how to take care of it. It’s 13 years old so we are thinking it needs to be refinished unfortunately. But we are looking for advice.

I have had to add a lot of Calcium Increae the last couple weeks. I meant like 16-24 lbs each week. This is new.
Your numbers do not make sense.
The CH is jumping all over the place with no obvious cause.
8 lb of calcium chloride should raise the CH by about 84 ppm.
Maybe the autofill is leaking and causing the pool to get diluted?
