Just fired our pool guy after coming home from a three month trip and finding a less than stellar pool. We’ve been doing it ourselves for about a month and it looks the best it has since we bought the house. However, since reading up on this site it looks like I need to correct the CYA level and calcium level. We just got a boatload of rain last night and the SWG shows low salt. I’m heading out to use my test kit. We’re looking forward to learning and saving ourselves from the hackers and some money at the same time. Any tips on what steps to take are appreciated.

Thanks for the response. I started with adding salt. I’ve been doing a lot of reading on the basics.
Make sure you have a Taylor K-1766 Salt test. SWCG reading or test strips are not reliable.
When the SWCG cell begins to fail, or has excessive scale, salt readings are incorrect.
