Running Pool 24 hours prevents algae

Are you using liquid chlorine or another product?

How much FC are you losing between each test?

Update your signature with your new test kit info and delte the accublue.

Powder plus is CalHypo - it is also adding calcium to your pool water.

You may want to consider performing an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test to determine how much FC you are losing overnight.
Ok will do. What are the effects of calcium in the pool? This is what the pool looked like this morning. I think we are getting there but will defer to y’all.

When calcium gets too high, you can get scaling on pool surfaces and in the SWG (if you have one). The only way to remove calcium is through water exchange.

In pool math, go to the gear in the upper right, scroll down and enable "Track Temperature" and "Track CSI." Then, post a full panel of tests to your pool math logs, including temperature...then we can see where all your levels stand...and provide advice on the calcium and other levels.

Pool looks like it is improving. Take a picture everyday from the same spot and you can compare improvement. You aren't done until the pool water looks like these...Link-->How Clear is TFP Clear?

You're getting there.
Water clarity is but one of the criteria.
You need to pass all three SLAM Process criteria.
Do the Overnight Chlorine Loss Test tonight and tomorrow morning and post results here.

Then post a full set of test results once the FC falls to 10 or less (pH test invalid with FC >10).
For the CYA test, let the water sample warm up to room temp first - then do that test outdoors.

My fiancé tried to do the overnight test and I think he didn’t do it right. But the pool looks great and here are the test results. Getting some “stuff” on the stairs but otherwise very clear.

If you are getting stuff on the stair, that counts against "clear pool." Has to be no algae, dead or alive. Like these pools...Link-->How Clear is TFP Clear?

Redo the OCLT. Take your time. Let the drops form and drop under their own weight. Go Slow.

Tests must be after sunset and before sunrise.

I think we are done with SLAM. Thoughts?

You didn't follow the OCLT or SLAM instructions. Do FC after sunset, and then again before sunrise. You missed the morning one by several hours.
With last night being 7.5 and mid-morning being 4.0, something is still using your FC. Whether sunlight (kinda doubtful that much) or algae (highly likely) is unknown because you didn't do the before sunrise test. The difference should only be 1 ppm or less between the two tests to count it as passed.

We didn’t have any sunlight today because it was raining and overcast all day. I will perform the second test again before the sun comes up to see if the results are different.

It's more about the UV radiation than anything, so just as you can still get sunburn when it is cloudy, so can your pool. And, you threw in another variable that doesn't get specifically addressed - rain in between the first and second readings. It will make a difference depending on where you take your water sample and how well the rain water has been mixed in beforehand. So maybe the second reading was also lower due to there being more rain water in that spot in the pool.

I was up late working and missed before sunset again but jumped up and took the test again anyways. This is what I got. No change between yesterday and today. Clorinator was turned off. No chlorine added in the past few days.

According to your PoolMath logs, it's been at least 7 days since your pool water was at
SLAM Process levels. With a CYA of 50, your SLAM FC level is 20.

Raise your FC to 20 and MAINTAIN it there until you pass ALL THREE criteria for successful completion of the SLAM.
Test and dose at least 3 times daily.

Complete a proper Overnight Chlorine Loss Test
Test FC after the sun goes down (not late at night) and test again before the sun comes up.
Set an alarm on your phone to remind yourself of the need to test at appropriate times.

Great! Sand filters take the longest to clear the water. Continue to slam until the water is stoopid clear, like these pools. Link—>How Clear is TFP Clear?
If necessary, considering added DE to your filter to assist with clearing algae. It worked for me.

When we started the SLAM our CYA was 40 (11/11/24) At that time our SLAM number was 16. At one point our FC got over 16. We were instructed to let it drop to 16 and maintain. We did that. Once dropped to 16, we continued to add chlorine until 11/15/24. I’m not sure which logs you are looking at but we have been in slam until 11/15. Today is the 19th. Our CYA spiked to 50 after we were in slam for over a week. Also we were in SLAM longer than the logs are showing. When I merged the account with my log in, it deleted by previous logs.

Our pool is very clear. Clearer than it’s ever been. Even when we had a pool person. Additionally, we have no loss in chlorine between last night and this morning.

How much? Now that y’all got me not trusting Leslie’s I had asked them about this a long time ago as I saw it while doing some research and they told me I shouldn’t. But I don’t trust them so how much do you recommend?
