RS Series Pump Leaking from Bottom after Motor Replacement

A couple weeks ago, the motor to our pool pump just stopped working. It had been making strange noises for a while so figured it was on its way out. The pool store recommended we have the pump motor replaced instead of buying a whole new pump. So that's what we opted for. They installed a new motor and installed a new shaft seal. After getting the motor back and hooking it back up, there was now a pretty bad leak coming from the bottom of the pump where the motor and the pump meet. We have had this pump for a LONG time and have never had an issue with it leaking until now. The pump has yet to be hooked to power, this is filling the filter basket up after bolting the motor to the strainer housing.

We called the pool store and they said the seal was most likely the issue and to bring it back in. So we did and they replaced it for us, we got it back, hooked it up and it leaked more than it had before. At this point we noticed the seal plate had a tiny crack in it where the bottom right bolt goes and the threads where the bottom right bolt goes into had pulled out. Thinking this was part of the problem, we were able to JB Weld the threads back into place and we had the seal plate replaced by the pool store along with another shaft seal. Get it home, hook everything up and still leaking. Looking over the gasket between the seal plate and the strainer housing and thought maybe this was the culprit.

So we found a replacement gasket today and compared the old to the new and noticed a big difference. Thinking this was it, we hooked everything up and it is still leaking. Its difficult to tell where its leaking from but the basket empties quite quickly. What I have noticed, when we first fill the pump basket, water seems to flow out from where the motor attaches to the motor mounting plate. After a few seconds, this stops and the water flows from somewhere else. I've tried to determine where, but it can't really be seen, just the flow of water coming from the bottom of the pump. I've triple checked over everything for cracks and all that and all looks good.

After taking the pump apart and looking at it some more, it seems there is water behind the seal plate and I see evidence of water leaking out of the holes where the motor is. This would lead me to believe the shaft seal needs to be replaced but from what I'm understanding, this has now been replaced each time we have taken it in to get serviced. This is quite a frustrating issue that I would like to get resolved as soon as possible. Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

The RS Hayward pump is a re-named Super 2. It looks like the brass inserts in the tank body have been pulled out of place by overtightening to try to stop the leak. They should be completely flush with the plastic. Even a tiny bit will not allow the pump to seal. Used to see that all the time. Unfortunately, the only fix is to replace the body or get a new pump.
