River Pools C40 Fiberglass Pool Installation - [Gore, Virginia]

Getting ready for the dig this week! Going to be getting the electrical ran and I keep trying to convince myself to run a 50amp service vs 40amp? At most we'll have the Intelliflo, 4 Microbrites, and an outlet or two, and in the future perhaps another pump to feed a solar system and some low voltage landscape lights...What do you all think?

50 amp service costs you a larger CB and thicker wire. It should not be a big incremental cost.

How long is the run ? My electric quote was a year ago but the electrician wouldn't even quote me the cost increase for 100ft of the thicker wire. I originally wanted spare power halfway across the yard for future projects like getting power to the shed.

There it is. The reason I was looking, but hadn't thought of it yet. Thank you! We do have duck / chicken house that will eventually have a pond that I need to get power to. Had to string a drop cord this year to keep their water from freezing...

The run will be about 30'. Looks like 6 vs 8 AWG isn't as bad as i thought. Given the new insight I've gained here I need to reconsider a few things. But I think that'll work.

Thanks again @Newdude! I needed that.

Awesome. It was out of stock last year and stupid expensive for the few who had it. I don't remember the exact prices but I looked up what my electrician wanted to use for the longer run and it convinced me to scrap the idea and put the panel 5ft from the electric feed. :ROFLMAO:

Glad it came down to something more reasonable. (y)

We got a pool in the ground! Took three attempts, but we got it set within a "smidge," super technical term around these parts. Anyways, it seems to be less than a 1/4" all the way around, pretty happy with it. We settled for it being a tad (1.5") out of square from the house, or so we think. Finding an even/equal place to measure on these freeform walls seemed an approximation at best. Not to mention a rise in the retaining wall in our measurement path to the wall of the house surely had our measurement a bit out of whack. Overall I think we did good, walked it several times, all feels solid. Now we wait for River Pools to come late next week (wish it were sooner) to repair the crack in the first step / wall. At least I'll be able to take my time laying out the rest of the plumbing/electrical. Got the electric/automation panel mounted over the weekend as well.

One step closer. :goodjob: Hope all goes well with the repair next week so you can get that thing filled. :swim:
Thank you. Me too, I'm hoping for the best. I found a River Pools owner's group on the FB and dropped a few questions to others with recent installs. Seems like the majority of C35/C40 installs have had a repair in one fashion or another and several with our exact issue. All have said great things about the repair work.

We had the repair guys out to repair the cracks. I ran over every thing again and discovered several other cracks. Repair crew was awesome however the quality of the repair after close inspection is off. I can see faint ghosting where the crack was ground out and filled through the gelcoat. Would pass for a casual observer, but that's not gonna fly for me. Seemed odd to me that the crack repair filler material was a dark grey, but I'm not a fiberglass guy either.

I've contacted River Pools again with our dissatisfaction and they are going to make another attempt.

I can see this process going a little sideways now. I've got an exposed hole in the yard with close to 5 inches of rain over the past few days. I pulled the submersible pump out of the pool last night thinking I'd let a little weight build in the pool and hopefully offset any water collecting in the hole. Looked like a minor amount yesterday afternoon. I took a look at things this morning and got scared, lots of water, standing almost halfway back the length of the hole. I put the pump in the hole as soon as I saw, but should have done it yesterday.

While I can't tell for certain until we check the grade on it again, I can't help but feel like we may have shifted a bit. I sure hope not, the saga continues.

We've got repair round 2 on the books for early next week. Here's to hoping this one goes smooth so we can get this hole buttoned up.

While the water in the hole was a scare, we seemed to fair alright. A quick check for level and we seem to be okay...

Fiberglass guys are back today. Just so happened to find a couple more spot that need attention...really hope this is the end of it.

Managed to get all lines, with the exception of water features fit and glued up to the trench. Photo was taken before glue up.

Don't mind my scorched conduit :ROFLMAO:.

What's your plan to support that tanning ledge underneath?
Going with the River Pools recommended method. Open areas will be filled with #68 stone, then we will place two block piers on the outside edge to level and provide support. Once leveled and filled with stone, block grout gets pumped in to fill any remaining voids and provide solid support under all areas. Sounds simple enough, I'm just not familiar with the process and wonder how much room should be left for the grout to flow...

Guys are back for day 2 of the second round of repairs. I actually thought they were wrapped up and luckily caught them last night before they left town. Discovered two more areas that needed some attention. It's really amazing, I have crawled around the inside of this thing a few times now, can't believe what I missed...A bit concerning but we've all now thoroughly inspected and I feel like this is the end. I hope.

Repairs were finally a success! The old saying "third time is a charm" seems appropriate. We are backfilled and have water in just a touch over the ledge. Next to level and support the ledge...now if I could find a concrete guy who would give me a call back I'd be all set. It's been a long time coming to get to this point. Feels good to make some progress.
