Reviving out of service pool: FG & deck Refresh

Are you getting it prepped for your enjoyment...or are you looking to sell? I hope its for you, truthfully.
Our house is a hobby that got WAY out of hand. I'll probably be still plugging away at trying to finish it with my last breath. :ROFLMAO:

Do you have a hose bib on your lines between the pump and filter? I wasn't willing to go back and find out. You could add more water to the mix from that...Not everyone has a hose bib there but I find it nice for a variety of things.
No HB. Thought about it, but didn't see a need. What do you use yours for? The only time so far that it would have been nice was the initial water fill of the pad pipes. I opened up the highest Jandy and used that to fill 'em. Doesn't seem like a HB would help here. If I couldn't add enough from the hose at the skimmer to avoid sucking air, why would adding water between pump & filter help? I did have the main and my sucker pipe open too for water supply to the pump.

Luv it!

When I redid my equipment pad.. the same thing you did, but mine was nowhere near as involved as yours was, The person I was using for advice suggested it. The old pad had a hose bib on in the same place and when I asked him what I needed one for, he said "For just in case." Well I use it for all kinds of stuff.
-pressure relief to drain the filter cartridge tank faster
-Help prime the pumps since my pump is above the water level. It will prime on its own, but this just speeds it up
-Make a slower feng shui trickle for my waterfall. instead of the blast the Waterfall pump does.
-Drain the pool faster than using my siphon setup in the winter deluges
-Hang junk on it, like o-rings and dead lizards

Cleared up nicely looks good now. Great job keeping up with it. I rellied to your message I'd check with boat builders/marinas if pool guys dont pan out. I'm swamped at the moment but I check in dont hesitate to message me with any questions.

I didn't see the full pad pics but if you have a union or T near filter you can fill pipe with DE then prime amd do it a few times until you have enough weight of DE

Started to sprinkle just as I finished my last test. What will tropical storm Beta have in store for me? Glad I'm inland & not coastal.

08:00 FC 11.5

Ok, didn't check FC before dawn, but I'm declaring this SLAM as complete with an overnight loss of 1 ppm. (y)
15 days and 60 gal LC.

Just in time for tropical storm Beta. See that overnight, our forecasted rain total has dropped to not being much, but this little puppy doesn't seem to know where it's heading and that could change. As long as the wind doesn't kick up too much...

Not going to do anything now about balancing the rest of the water until I hear from the pool repair guy on Wed. Not much point if they're going to drain the pool - as I expect.

Thanks, Allen. But I sure hope I can beat his timetable. I do a lot of things, but there's absolutely no way I can do this DIY at my age. A gal has to know her limits (few as there may be ... or at least that I'll acknowledge).

Edit: What would be the highest "safe" FC to try out the robot?

Repair guy came out and thought that using a boat-quality, heavy duty fiberglass patch would be enough - 3 yr full parts & labor warranty. I asked about structural repair and he said it would have a 5 yr warranty but cost about 3x as much. Going with the fiberglass patch; partial pool drain & done by end of next week. (y)

I'd call that good news! Have you been swimming yet? Tried the robot yet?
Even better news: they just called and said they'll be out tomorrow afternoon. :)

No, haven't been swimming; 1) it's been relatively cool (for us) and raining with outer bands from TS Beta 2) water's not exactly warm: 77° 3) busy building a quickie TV stand for hubby's new TV that will delivered tomorrow.

Didn't know "safe" level of FC for robot.

He showed up??? As in you saw his wonderful face?? SWEET!

OH YEAH!! So will the just be putting a patch on it or will they sand down and try to blend it in?

Say what???

Just like you-so long as the FC is under SLAM level for your CYA it is safe for both of you!

This is not the local guy that I first called. This is an outfit that specializes in repairs.

Don't have deep details, but he said they open the crack up a bit to fill it better before putting the patch over it. I've been warned that it'll be white and won't match. Will try to take a bunch of pics.

If the repair guy does not minde you can use this:
Maybe you can finde them locally at an arts and craft store.
