Replacing skimmer

Hi all,

If I decide to replace my skimmer face, do I need to worry about the liner pulling down from the opening when I remove the screws?

I have a Hayward widemouth skimmer and this is the pools second season. It's a steel wall with a 20 mil liner.

I would not take the chance but if you do decide to do it I would leave the water right at the bottom of the skimmer face and go from there.

Just lower the water below the skimmer. Replace when the sun is shining on that part of the pool. When I did mine the liner did not pull back down. I replace the box outside after the 1st pool store closing because ice formed inside and cracked it. But it was a widemouth and just replaced the skimmer box. There is a piece in between the pool and the skimmer box. When I did the face plate 3 years ago, the liner did not come down.
