Swapping the cell is very easy & not much profit for him.
Buying the s3 is really not necessary unless you want/need the automation features.
You can replace your current t9 cell with a t15 (40k gal) cell if you wish to have a little longer life. you will just need to change the cell type in the settings menu.
Replacing the cell takes maybe 5-10 minutes.
Your current controller will probably last another 10+ years or more. It also has many easily replaceable components.
With 5 years of use in sunny florida with long seasons your current cell is likely depleted.

This is the basic information we need to know in diagnosing a problem:
- Report all diagnostic readings when you..
- Move the switch from auto to off and check all of the readings.
- Move the switch back to auto and recheck the readings.
- Move the switch to off for a minute and then back to auto and recheck the readings.
- What are the first seven characters of the cell and box serial numbers?
- What is the actual salinity and how are you measuring it?
Also, be sure to manually chlorinate daily while you’re figuring out the swcg.
