At the rental house I'm in, the owner had an Aquabot in the (inoperable) hot tub. He said it didn't work very well, but I decided to fire it up anyway. It seemed to work ok, then I looked at the instructions and saw the part about emptying the filter bag. The filter bag and filter bracket were in the hot tub too, so I installed those and let it do it's thing. Wow, it works so much better with that on it!
