Raypak heat sensor

I fired up my brand new Raypak gas 206A pool heater today. It sparked and ignited just fine. BUT the temperature reading on the heater is showing much higher (8 degrees) than the actual water temperature. First use. New pool owners. DIY. Ordered from Pool Supply World. 8,000 Gal pool.

Any diy advice or help is appreciated.

You have any bypass valves that could be mixing cold pool water with the heater output?

What are you using to get the temp reading of the water that says differently than the heater?
