The pool filter and salt generator are on a timer. When I install this heater will it need to be on a timer as well or is it smart enough to just wire it direct to the circuit breaker and basically be always on?

A pool heater, especially a newer one with a blower, should have constant power so that when shut off at its on/off switch it cool-down cycle can complete.
