Recently found a leak in the spa so only have water pulling and going into the pool. With the switch, the bubbles have become really noticeable.

That says the air leak is not in the pump.

Post better pictures of the suction side plumbing from the pool.

My WAG is it is in the diverter that you moved when turning off the spa.
