If you store in a cool dry place out of light, they last 2-3 years. Also to my knowledge, if i buy a kit like this , do I need to buy one every year?
I use a pair women’s knee high nylons (queen size, one inside the other for extra strength). I can fit about 6 pounds in it.thank you for the advice. Next time I’ll use the socks. Is there any kind of product specifically for adding stabilizer to the pool? I guess I would need big bags.
Yea, the kit can be spendy but itll save you money in the long run. As a pool owner its one of those almost mandatory expenses or you can hire a service to manage it and fire them when they screw it up. The brown water is an indication something is wrong. Also to my knowledge, if i buy a kit like this , do I need to buy one every year?
That makes more sense for the quantity I needed. Thanks so muchI use a pair women’s knee high nylons (queen size, one inside the other for extra strength). I can fit about 6 pounds in it.![]()
I’ll be ordering in the next weeks, I’ve just spent a lot of money this year on my new home and I need to wait a bit.The refills are cheaper when you need them. It still may suck importing them to Canada but it'll suck 60% less.
The initial kit comes with vials and test block/tube that you don't need to replace, but is over half the cost.
I understand, but the pool is literally worth 10's of thousands of dollars. A pool service for a single month will equal the cost for the test kit. Once you have the test kit, you're good for a while, and will be saving that money every month going forward.I’ll be ordering in the next weeks, I’ve just spent a lot of money this year on my new home and I need to wait a bit.
Do you have a link to something like that? Some mesh bags have big holes, I imagine I need something with small holes.I use a mesh bag for my CYA that I typically use for steeping grains when brewing. They are a few cents each.
I moved and then built a pool. I get it. Believe me I do.I’ve just spent a lot of money this year on my new home and I need to wait a bit.

Swamps cost far more, and staying out of the pool store will pay for the kit several times over. I have a big pool and they had $125 of stuff I didn't need, or could buy elsewhere dirt cheap, weekly.
Baking soda for example, is 50 cents a pound anywhere, but several dollars a pound in a fancy pool store bag that says TA up
I am slowly realizing that. It’s been a week I have this pool, perhaps almost a week and a half. For sure I’ll make mistakes buy the most expensive and unnecessary stuff.. but I am learning I am here and next year will surely be super easy. Yes, I bought some baking soda I know it helps for alkalinity .I moved and then built a pool. I get it. Believe me I do.

this is exactly what I was hoping to get, thank youI buy mine 100 at a time from a brewing store. Here is a link to a 10 pack on Amazon: Amazon.com
I reuse a bag 10-15 times before it starts to develop tears and holes, then throw it out and use a new one.
