I was able to find some Qik Joe Ice Melt in the basement of an Ace hardware. Good price.... $21.99 for 50 lbs. I looked for active ingredients on the package and didn't see the percentage of calcium chloride anywhere on the bag. However, it does say "Calcium, Chloride Pellets" on the front of the bag. Anyone have any experience with this product or know what the calcium chloride percentage of this particular ice melter is? Also, I usually dilute the calcium chloride in water before pouring it around the perimeter of the pool. Per Pool School you can just spread the pellets across the deep end of the pool (no need to dilute). Is there any problem with diluting it first?

It probably contains some salt.

Adding calcium to water generates a lot of heat. Trying to dilute it in a bucket can create hot water that can burn.
