Try a dry fit- some people need to sand the grey adapters down a little- also I think u still need the gaskets or they will leak.
The intex nuts are a coarser thread than standard pvc fittings so yeah u do have to use them.
I believe some people have made their own by cutting the end off the hose but I say save the hose for incase & use the cheap grey fittings. Not sure how things would glue up
Since they are hose ends & with the inside diameter sizing.
I used all my extra intex hoses to extend my intex automatic pool cleaner so it would reach across my 33’ pool before I bought a dolphin.
You never know when u may need em’
Ps - don’t forget unions so u can take things apart for winterizing or maintenance. Lay it out & really think about your plan before u glue it.
