Pumps won’t start up

I was trying to reset the times that my two filter pumps run ( Pentair VSF) and when into Settings…Advanced Configuration..Installation Setup…Pumps and noticed that the pumps were designated as VS pumps instead of VSF pumps. I changed that setting and didn’t change anything else since it didn’t list the schedules there. I exited and my two filter pumps shut off and haven’t come back on.
(They are set to run high speed for 4 hours a day and lower speed 20 hours a day.)
I rebooted the system but still nothing happens. I need to get them
Back in today if possible. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank
You.

Are the pumps set up in the Intellicenter to run based on RPM or FLOW. Better is RPM, but check that.

OK -- but you changed the pump designation to VSF. So somewhere in the Intellicenter it thinks the pumps should be set up as FLOW(GPM). Let's ask @Turbo1Ton and @MyAZPool for input on Intellicenter.

For now, if you want the pumps to operate, put the Intellicenter into SERVICE mode. Then you can operate the pumps from the pump display.

I went back and changed them
To VS. but that didn’t help. I went to service mode (then manual
Control) and for some reason the pump names aren’t listed there??
Everything I hit there makes a “click” but nothing turns on.

I am not familiar with the Intellicenter. Let me look at the manual while you are waiting on the experts.

Select SERVICE Mode and then go to the pump display screen. You should be able to start the pump there.

SERVICE is selected at the Intellicenter panel it self.

I believe I have to go to Settings the Service on the IntelliCenter panel to get to Switch from Auto to Service mode. Once there nothing turns on…just loud clicks when I select an item.

Once in SERVICE mode, you go to the PUMP itself, and control the pump from the PUMP display screen. NOT the Intellicenter.

This is my opening screen

Second picture, Select SERVICE.

Then go to the Pump - the actual Pump, and use its controls to operate the Pump.

Dav,

With the EasyTouch if you change the pump type, (VS to VSF) it will dump all your speeds and you have to set them up again.

I suspect that the IntelliCenter is the same way.

Just to give you an idea what I am talking about, here are my speeds..

Unless there is a speed assigned to a Circuit, the pump will not run.

Thanks,

Jim R.

That worked!! Now I just need to figure out how it was programmed for speeds to change automatically during the day. It would be nice if Pentair could put out a better programming manual…or maybe it’s just me…lol.
Thank You so much!!! Hated to
Interrupt you 4th celebration, but I live in

Dav,

While all the speeds may have gone away, the programming/scheduling should still be there. Just look at your schedules and make sure you have a corresponding speed. As an example:

Your schedule says that at 1 pm your waterfall will come on and run until 2 pm. You will most likely have a Speed assigned to the waterfall circuit that causes the pump to run at the speed that makes your waterfall look the way you want.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Sorry, have been outside working on the project vehicle and got in the pool when it got too hot for that.

Sounds like you got it figured out. I don't recall if the Intellicenter resets the speeds/flows when you change the pump type. If you set it as VSF vs. VS, then you can run the pump using flow rate, if you are so inclined. I have mine set as VSF, but only use speed, as the flow settings take precedence over the speed and I don't remember what at the moment, but I had an issue with whatever I was trying to do.

@Davwil
In the link below, you'll find a video that I put together some time ago regarding the programming/setup of IntelliCenter Feature Circuits & Circuit Groups (macros) and how to associate those virtual circuits with Pump Speeds and/or Flows as well as Valve Actuator associations.

As you have discovered, the Pentair IntelliCenter documentation is severely lacking to put it mildly. Hopefully, this instructional video can help you out some to get you on the right track.
r.
