So as of now I am having to manually turn on the pump, at the pump (I run it over night so the motor stays nice and cool)

Anyway, when it shuts down it is full of water (the lines, filter, pump basket etc)

When I kick it on, it starts going, and then after 10 secs, it doesn't draw from the pool for some reason. It pumps out what was in the pump, and then nothing continues.

What would cause this "vapor" lock for lack of a better word??

That would most likely be a blockage in the line supplying the pump. Its hard for a pump that is gravity-fed to run dry otherwise. Pumps don't vapor lock, especially on an above-ground pool.

Thanks. I think I tracked it down to a new flapper for the skimmer mouth.. it's odd it restricts it enough to cause that though.
