Having a problem with my pool pump. It’s a Hayward, TriStar VS 2.7HP if I recall. Went to clean the floor basket before the pump, after I finishing went to start the pump and nothing. Messed with tripping the breakers to the motor and Goldline Controller and it still wouldn’t work. The motor would oscillate when trying to start but was very quiet. I’ll see if I can attach a video or YouTube link.
Got the following error on the goldline controller.
Check System
Pool VSC Err:56
After a few hours of messing with everything I stuck a screwdriver in the fan and rotated it about 30 degrees then tired to turn on the pump again and no problem. I cycled the motor on and off at least a dozen times afterwards and couldn’t get it to fail again. The bearings didn’t feel tight so I’m wondering if it was a problem with motor positioning? Does anyone know if there is a feedback loop for these VS motors? Was about ready to hook up the original control board and try to drive it from that instead of the goldline controller but got it working before using the native pump board. Also wondering if the newer firmware on the pump board would have provided more detailed error code. Any ideas?
Of course this happened a few hours before leaving on a trip so hopefully it doesn’t happen again while I’m gone.
Any ideas?
Here are the numbers on the motor. Not sure which one would be the model number.
