Pump over heating + burning smell

My pump got really hot to the touch and shut off - after it cooled down I was able to turn it back on but there is weird smell , maybe a burning smell. Any idea what the issue might be? I’ve since turned it off…

Maybe a bad motor or a bad pump or bad electricity or some other problem..

So basically go get it checked out? I think it might be goner , it’s very old!

How old is the pump? What did you pay for it?

I ended up replacing it ( it was here when I bought the house , I think it was about 10 yrs old)
