Pump not priming, no pressure to filter. Cannot reproduce pump leak

It's really strange. It's a lot more than just a drip.

Were the return valves replaced as well?

If you plug the returns at the pool, you should be able to open the return valve unions and see why you're not getting any water from them.
The return valves were not replaced. Just the suction side valves. Should the return valves be back feeding into my filter and pump if I have them open without the pump on?

Jon,

I don't think they did it on purpose.. You just had an idiot for an installer...

Thanks,

Jim R.
I'd like to think so but I just had them over on Tuesday to look at it. They weren't concerned at all that no water was coming out of the valves five feet below the water line. All they tried to tell me is that my pump was leaking water and that it needs to be replaced. That's when alarm bells starting ringing in my head. I've filled the pump with water numerous times and have never noticed any leaks. He somehow filled it to where water looked like it was running out underneath the pump but I haven't been able to replicate what he did. I don't know if he filled a different part of the pump with water or what.

At 5 feet below the water level, there should be 2 psi of back pressure.

I would open the unions and take a look.

Plug the returns at the pool so that you don't have water gushing everywhere.

The people who replaced the valves and came out recently are seriously incompetent or dishonest.

Yesterday I had a pool company come out and they filled what I assume is the pump with water and then showed me water pouring from the bottom of the pump. I never actually saw where they put the water but I'm assuming they just filled the pump basket area. They said my pump was cracked.
Interesting that the crack just disappeared?
