Pump Decibel Ratings

Hello,
I can't find decibel ratings for any of the manufacturer's pumps.
Does anyone know of a site that has collected this information?
I did find a youtube video of a single variable speed pump being measured.

Good question, I know going from my 1 1/2 hayward superpump to a 1.65 v-green VS pump was day and night quieter..I can barely hear it run if that's what your after.

From the video of the decibel test of a variable speed pump, in order to get the low noise affect it has to be run at a low rpm rate decreasing the GPM.
At a low GPM I would have to run a variable speed pump almost 24 hours per day to get the necessary water volume turnover.

How often do you run your pump?

Turnover is a myth. A pump is run first to create/distribute chlorine which can take many hours with a SWCG and as little as two hours if adding liquid chlorine. The second reason is to skim the surface. That is dependent on the environment around your pool and your own desires.

Members run their pools from as little as two hours per day to 24 hours per day. But the number of 'turnovers' is immaterial.

That is good to know. It now gives me some other ideas.
Still would like to have the decibel ratings though. Me thinks the manfacturers realize this would be a show stopper for some of their pumps.

I have a dB meter somewhere, maybe I can try measuring mine

Maybe the best way to get the decibel ratings is from crowd sourcing.
There are phone apps for decibel meters.
