Look at this buffoonery....LOL. All other brands of pumps and filters are still normal prices FOR NOW, but Intex is another animal..... 😂😂😂😂

I paid $170 for the Intex Krystal Clear 16” sand filter pump (3000 GPH - .75 HP) in spring 2019. I would NEVER pay $400 for it now!! Geezus!!!! Now I’m tempted to sell mine after I get my new equipment lol!!

It's dangerous territory because some people swear by DE, others by cartridge etc. Those who invested in DE will never admit a good sand filter can do as good when it comes to what matters etc.

I see. This is why I feel more comfortable buying a pump and filter set. I’ll price everything out and get opinions from you guys lol
 
‘NIB’ (new in box) will fetch you some BANK !! I use the OfferUp app. You can tell through simple convos who is worth your time to meet and who you should blow off. FB marketplace does well also.

Yessss Facebook Marketplace is where it’s at. I can’t believe people are actually willing to pay these prices.

What my old pool is selling for RIGHT NOW. It’s not even the XTR model and look what it’s going for. My new “real” pool was just under $2,000 after tax!! Notice the date I purchased the Intex....3700413D-0791-44BD-8D33-E91776EFE8EC.jpeg

$600.00 in March 2019. So thankful I bought it before the pandemic. I really wish people would stop panic-buying these pools and paying these ridiculously marked up prices. They’re supporting price-gouging!! I can understand last summer because production came to a halt and the pandemic was at its worst with pools closed and everything else, but pools are still available and production has resumed. I just want to know what these people are smokin, honestly. 🤣🤣

They are smoking that they’ve been trapped in their houses with their kids for a YEAR. Trust me, you’ll get it one day. :ROFLMAO:

Plus, most people spent zero of their vacation or kid activity budgets. Once all the sports and extracurriculars got canceled it was like getting a hefty raise.

They’re expensive but should last a while with regular cleaning. I’m not sure how often they need to be replaced. Sand is cheaper in the long run and if I lived in a warm climate and kept my pool open year-round, I would stick with it but we have COLD winters here and I want to be able to easily bring my filter inside with my pump instead of having to winterize my sand filter every year. It is definitely too heavy to bring inside (even in the garage). Cartridge filters also filter out smaller debris than sand but I still have crystal clear water with my sand filter other than the little specks of sand that make their way into the pool. The choice is all about convenience for me but I’m still researching the pros and cons.

What size do you recommend for my pool? Everyone says to buy a big filter but I don’t know what is considered big for a 7500 gallon pool? I’m still learning about cartridge filters. I want an oversized one but not overkill lol
 
I had a 500 for 35k gallons and it was plenty oversized so 100-125 would be the same proportions. A 200 would be really sweet if it wasn’t a big upcharge.

Hmmmm how much do they run? The popular opinion seems to be to get a good (but not over-the-top strong) enough pump for my pool (1 HP is what I’m seeing the most on this thread) and splurge/go big on the filter. Do cartridge filters come in increments of 25?
 
*edit on thoughts. Your gallons are roughly 1/5 mine but the surface area of you pool to collect all the falling crud is 1/4. The gallons of my deep end don’t matter so go 125+.
