Problem with Pentair Ultratemp 110

Hi everyone, first time posting, but I have an issue with my heater. I have a Pentair Ultratemp 110, bought brand new in early 2021 and I have had some issue lately. It has been having problems heating my pool. For about two weeks it would constantly click on and off incessantly but heat the pool. Now the fan won't start up and it just doesn't heat at all. There are no flow lights on, no visible errors on the display, it just doesn't heat up. I have it set to heat to 87 and it just sits at 82, which is probably just ambient heat IMO because it's like 85-90 degrees here daily. I've gotten the fan to kick on once by using a stick to push the fan blades, and it ran for a few hours, but ultimately stopped again.

I really need some help here. Thank you in advance!

EDIT: I don't see any alarms on the system, but I can see in the past it has thrown a few LOW REFRIG warnings. Also the suction temp is 79 and actual temp is like 82.

If the fan won't run, I would check the dual capacitor ( should be an 80/7.5 mf ). The 7.5mf side would be for the fan motor. Capacitor terminals should be labeled C (common), F (Fan) and Herm (compressor). Capacitor is inexpensive and you could replace yourself. Be sure to turn off power to the heater and discharge the capacitor by shorting each side ( Fan and Herm) to common with a screwdriver blade. Doesn't hurt to remove wires from terminals with an insulated needle nose. Make sure to note which wire goes to which terminal and reconnect to the same terminals. Most multimeters can check capacitor output mf (u) with the capacitor disconnected. Reading should be within +/- 10% of labeled rating. If capacitor is weak or open and you start the fan with a stick it will draw excessive amperage and may damage the fan relay contacts.

Yes, if both sides read 0 mf the capacitor is open. But then neither the fan nor the compressor should run and you should hear a humming/buzzing noise on start up. Are you sure that you are checking the capacitor correctly?

Curious question: why did you not open a support ticket with Pentair to get warranty service on the unit?

I ask as mine has also stopped heating/chilling and I’m trying to get Pentair to service/ replace under warranty.

To be honest I figured I’d get a slow response or they’d send me to a licensed repair org and I’d end up paying too much for something not considered warranty covered. This cost me $15 and some time.
