Problem with Brilliant Wonders Lights

Opened the pool several week ago and noticed that one of my 3 CMP Brilliant Wonders LED lights was out. Another was quite dim and the 3rd seemed fine. Since then, all 3 have gone out. The transformer appears to be coming on. The lights are only 2 years old. I called CMP and spoke with a quite grumpy technical assistance person who informed me that the warranty on these lights was only 1 year. When I asked him if it was typical for these lights to go out after only 2 years his reply was, "It happens". So I am wondering if anyone else has had experience with these lights. Could the problem be in the light housing or wiring? These lights look very similar to the Jandy Pro nichless LEDs as well as the Savi Melody lights. Just wondering if they are manufactured by the same people. The Jandy and Savi have 3 years warranties. I may try to pool and look at my this weekend. Do I actually have to drain water out of my pool before or remove the lights or can it be done under water? Any help or insight would be appreciated.

Most lights can be removed with water in the pool. There should be enough line to bring the up and out of the pool.Make sure to turn the breaker to them off to be on the safe side. Look at the manual for your lights and see what it says about turning them on out of the water. Most say not to so keep that in mind when you are working on the problem.

After looking at possible replacement lights, the Jandy Pro and Savi Melody appear to be the same lights. Does anyone know who manufactures these? I saw that Savi has a replacement cartridge that slips into the light housing. Wondering if this would work in the Brilliant Wonders housing?

When the pool was installed, I asked the contractor if I had to remove the lights in the winter. He said "no." We did have one of the coldest winters here in Memphis and I am wondering if that had anything to do with the lights going out.

Thanks Kimkats. I just pilled one of the lights and have discovered the problem. They have all leaked around the screw on lens. The one that I pulled was corroded around the elecreical circut. The other 2 have water behind the lenses. Been waiting for 3 weeks on pool installer to contact the distributor who will have to contact CMP. They will only replace under warranty by going through the distributor. CMP will only talk to the distributor. What a mess.

So the company who installed the pool and lights are not returning phone calls. I guess I am out of luck with any warranty claim. I looked at the lights again and the only place that I can see for a potential leak is around the lens. The lens screws off and there are 2 "O" rings. At this point I am going to replace with the same lights so I do not have to run new wires. They are also less expensive, although CMP's customer service stinks. Wondering if lubing the O rings with silicon grease before installing would be a good idea. Also, I plan to remove the lights when closing the pool from now on. I have a hunch that the usually cold weather that we had this year cause the O rings to shrink and allow water in?

Hi Poolk, I know Hayward had the same issues with there ColorLogic 320 lights for about a 1 year time frame around 2016 where the gaskets that sealed the light ended up leaking, causing the lights to fail. I have a friend who had 7 of his 12 lights fail, all had apparent water leakage. Hayward did own up to the issue and replaced all of his lights under warranty. Sorry to hear that CMP is not replacing them for you. I think anything you can do to prolong the life of the gaskets would be time well spent. (i.e. removal of lights, annual gasket replacement, etc..).
