I haven't vacuumed a pool in 15 years Had a Polaris and what it wouldn't pick up I just brushed to the main drain.
Now that I have a dolphin the pool is soooo much cleaner.
Just have to find out how to keep my dog from going nuts, every time it climbs to the time he goes bonkers!

Oh! and yes, I know they are DWV pipes but I don't care and apparently they don't either as they work just fine...

I've used a suction cleaner for years, The Pool Cleaner. Works OK but I won't spend a dime on it when it craps out. I'm working to prepare for the discussion with my wife. Thinking about this line "Sweetheart there's this expert named Jim Rahbe that told me to lay down the law with you and just get one!" Maybe add "Got it!" at the end. Jim's expertise goes far beyond automation!

What type of fitting did you use to connect the vacuum hose?

If you look at the pic, you can see where I just used a simple rubber plumbing fitting that I got at Home Depot and a hose clamp to make the connection. In the pic, you can see a PVC cap that comes out, and the vac hose goes in.

I debated a robot for a while, thought my polaris was doing ok other then having to take it out and kick it every once in a while..But a robot is day and night better..She will like seeing a spotless pool everyday
