Hi! I just turned my pool pump on and the pressure is below 10, usually closer to 20. Do I backwash? I thought the need to backwash would increase pressure.

Interesting. When you say the pressure used to be 20, and now is 10, was that at the same RPMs? Backwashing cant hurt, but I'm not sure it will help. Typically you start off with a clean pressure, then backwash when your pressure rises ~20% from that, so the backwashing lowers the psi.

Sudden lower filter pressure implies a blocked suction. Either the skimmer weir door is stuck, the skimmer basket is full of debris, and/or the pump basket is full of debris.

Tell us what your were doing just before the problem occurred.. Vacuuming maybe???
My normal pressure is about 1 to 2 lbs.. If your normal pressure is 20 lbs. than I would have to assume you are running your pump way, way too fast...
What speed do you normally run your VS pump??
